It's easy to make your family tree! You could simply draw it out with your little one, or print out a template onto a piece of A4-sized paper or cardboard, then cut along along the outline. The real fun begins when you start looking for pictures of each family member! This is a great time to remind them who their uncles, aunts and grandparents are, and all the fun you've had together.
Growing the tree
When you've found the right photos, group the pictures on the branches according to family line. While sticking the pictures, explain to your child how they're related to the people in the photos. For example, when sticking pictures of grandpa and grandma, you can say "This is your grandma. She's mummy's mummy! Mummy and grandma are like you and me."
Prettying up the tree
You can also decorate the tree by adding glitters and other drawings or stickers! Let your little one have fun with this and really encourage their creativity. When they're done, show the tree to everyone in the family!
And don't forget to take pictures of the tree and show it to us too!
By making a family tree, your child will learn more about each family member. Your child will know that other than mom and dad, there are other people who love and care for your child. Such pride is important to nurture emotional bonds between your child and other family members. As described on Toddlerhub.com, a child that is close to the family will grow to become a confident and happy person.
